Dear Learners,

We hope your learning journey is progressing well!

Completing work placement is an essential part of your qualification. It provides you with the opportunity to learn in a real work environment under the guidance of a qualified professional. All ACTAC courses have a mandatory work placement component. You can start organising your placement at any time—so long as it is within the course duration and you have successfully completed the first six (6) units. While it is your responsibility to find your own work placement, we recognise that the process can seem daunting.

To help make the process easier, we have put together a list of tips for your search:

  1. Start early and be proactive: it may be difficult to find a suitable service in your area. Be sure to begin your search well in advance to increase your chances of securing a spot. You could start by researching education facilities in your local area.
  2. Update your resume: your resume should highlight your skills, the course you’re enrolled in, and any relevant experience you have.
  3. Network: talk to friends, family, and people in your community—someone may have a valuable connection. Attending industry events and job fairs could also open doors for you.
  4. Remain professional: when contacting organisations, ensure your communication is polite and appropriate. A professional and enthusiastic attitude can go a long way in making a good impression.

Websites and platforms like Workforce Australia, Seek Volunteer, Indeed, and LinkedIn can assist you in your placement search. Remember to reach out to your trainer if you need advice about finding suitable work placement. We are here to support you.

Best of luck with your search. Happy Friday!
